Directors of over 200 emergency food providers from across the five boroughs met in June at City Harvest’s First Annual Agency Conference. On each of the two conference days, City Harvest hosted a panel of executive directors representating a cross section of soup kitchens and food pantries with the goal of learning more about challenges agencies face in surviving the recession. Agencies on the panel spoke candidly about the recession’s impact on the communities they serve and the rising demand for emergency food. You can view their testimony by clicking the links below.
City Harvest is grateful to JCC of Manhattan for the space to host the conference; Community Resource Exchange, whose faculty taught the workshops provided; The New York Community Trust, whose support made the partnership with Community Resource Exchange possible; and
City Harvest’s agency partners for their ongoing work providing meals and pantry bags to people who need them.
